School trips in Italy
In the summer months, the two oldest primary classes (Years 5 and 6) go on a 4–5 day residential trip with their teachers to discover Italy.
School life

Beyond the classroom
It is through art, music and sport that children discover their talents, who they are and what they love. Knowing many forms of expression builds confidence, and that confidence shows at home and with friends too.
These subjects take commitment: patience and perseverance are qualities for life. During the year children have many chances to show their work and share what they have achieved.

Children learn to read and understand images and works of art, and to express themselves personally and creatively, in a hands-on workshop.
It is the best way to grow their curiosity about Italy's artistic heritage.

Not just theory: children sing in multi-part choirs and play pieces on different instruments, reading and writing music on the stave.
Playing together the parts arranged by their teacher, the class becomes a real orchestra in concert.

Sport as a healthy way of life: physical and mental development, teamwork and sharing. It is one of the strongest tools for inclusion.
“Mens sana in corpore sano” (Juvenal, Satires X, 356).

Through drama children explore movement, voice and emotions.
Acting in Italian and in English puts them centre stage and naturally strengthens their learning of both languages.
OIS around the world
During the year we visit the most important art sites, museums and theatres in the area, as well as nature excursions. Meeting art helps children find their way in the world critically and independently.

Full immersion in English: cultural and fun experiences alongside students from other countries.
Inclusion
Personalised teaching means adapting the method to the person and finding the right solution for every difficulty.
For pupils with specific learning difficulties (DSA) or special educational needs (BES), the school prepares a personalised learning plan (PDP) and has an on-site coordinator. On request, extra support outside school hours can be arranged for an additional fee.
The school has a team of tutors trained by the Italian Dyslexia Association (AID), for every school stage. They help pupils build an effective study method, use compensatory tools and become more independent; they support families and work with teachers on the strategies in the PDP. The service is open to children from other schools too and is not included in the school fees.
We look forward to meeting you!
A tour of the school and a meeting with the Head are the best way to find out whether OIS is right for your child.
