Our philosophy
Every child is more than the sum of their parts
At OIS we see each pupil as a whole person. That is why our approach is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary: teaching is tailored to the child, helps them discover their talents and lets those talents grow through a wide range of activities.
Alongside spoken and written Italian and English, drama, music, art and sport are often the key: excelling in one subject is how a child finds and builds self-confidence.
1Our educational project
We teach children to be citizens of a community that is not just their school, but also the local area and the wider world. This is why we value activities outside the classroom: observing nature, exploring, discovering other cultures.
Our mission is to teach the English National Curriculum together with the Italian national programme, through personalised teaching that turns our pupils into life-long learners.
2Our teachers
Our Italian and English teachers are qualified, experienced native speakers. Each one speaks to the children only in her own language, so every pupil links each teacher to one language and learns the two languages separately and naturally.
The school ensures continuity of both teaching and support staff.
3A villa between the sea and the pine woods
The school is in Ostia Lido, in a villa between the sea and the pine woods, away from traffic and pollution: a real oasis for children.
